Glenn "Ish" Combs (1946-49)

Glen “Ish” Combs helped UofL post a combined 90-33 record as a four-year basketball letterman for the Cardinals. His sophomore year as a starting forward in 1947-48, Combs helped the Cards to their first national title when UofL claimed the 1948 NAIB National Championship, defeating a John Wooden-coached Indiana State team. He was named to the first All-Ohio Valley Conference team as a junior in 1948-49, averaging 11.1 points as the Cards posted a 21-9 record. After teaching and coaching briefly, he entered the UofL Dental School and then opened a dental practice in Somerset, which he maintained until his death in 1979.
