John Knopf (1945-47)

John Knopf was a four year letterman for coach Peck Hickman. Knopf was Hickman’s version of “Instant Defense.” He was known for his all-out hustle and clutch performances on the court. He earned All-American honors in 1947-48, the year Louisville won the NAIB title. A graduate of St. Xavier High School, he was a co-captain of the 1946-47 team with Jack Coleman. Knopf earned his law degree at UofL and practiced law in Louisville.
