
Men's Swimming Win Gold and Silver in First Day of ACC Championships

Cards have two NCAA A-Cuts in the first two relays of the Championship
The first day of racing at the 2018 Men's ACC Swimming and Diving Championships was short but sweet for the Louisville Cardinals.

After one day of racing and 3-meter diving (contested last week in conjunction with the women's meet), the Cardinals sit in seventh. NC State leads the league with a 158 points followed by FSU (157), Duke (147), UNC (143), Virginia Tech (140), Notre Dame (138), Louisville (127), Virginia (121), Pitt (86), Boston College 66, Georgia Tech (65) and Miami (22).

In the first event of the evening, the Cards turned in a gold medal performance in the 200 medley relay. After trailing through each of the first three legs, Louisville came from behind in the last 50 to win the 200 medley relay for the first time on the strength of Andrej Barna's anchor leg of 18.54.  Louisville took the title with a 1:23.41 put up by  Nicolas Albiero (20.95), Carlos Claverie (23.55), Zach Harting (20.37) and Andrej Barna (18.54).

In the other event of the evening, the Cards took silver in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:16.88. Sam Steele (1:34.76), Zach Harting (1:32.33), Marcelo Acosta (1:34.84), and Jarrett Jones (1:34.95) put up the A-cut time.
