
Women’s Soccer Has Six Named CSC Academic All-District Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The College Sports Communicators announced the Academic All-District Teams Tuesday afternoon and the Louisville women's soccer team was well represented. Karsyn Cherry, Erynn Floyd, Mackenzie Geigle, Lizzie Sexton, Amelia Swinarski and Liza Suydam were all named to the Academic All-District team.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, you need to have a cumulative 3.50 GPA and be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. You must also play in 90 percent of your team's games or start in 66 percent to be eligible. Six players is the maximum number of players a team can have recognized.
Swinarski led the Cardinals this season with 10 goals, 10 assists and 30 points. Suydam tied Swinarski for the team lead with 10 assists, had six goals which was second best on the team and was second on the squad with 22 points. Swinarski and Suydam are tied for fourth all-time in program history for most assists in a single season.
Geigle tied with Suydam with six goals on the season to go with four assists and 16 points. Geigle converted the final penalty kick to advance the Cardinals over Kentucky and into the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Cherry was also successful on her penalty kick attempt against the Wildcats and had three goals, three assists and nine points on the season.
Sexton started all 21 games for the Cardinals on the back line and tallied an assist on the season. She played 90 minutes or more 14 times this season. Floyd started all 21 games in net for the Cardinals and tallied 10 solo shutouts and 12 total combined shutouts on the year. The 10 solo shutouts ranked first in the ACC this season. She recorded a 0.78 goals against average, good for fifth best in program history for a single season.
