Wydner Throws Two Touchdown Passes to Lead White Team at Annual Spring Game

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The University of Louisville saw Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes to lead the White team to a 43-24 win over the Red Squad during its annual Spring Football Game on Friday night at L&N Stadium.
Davin Wynder led the trio with 194 yards, followed by Briggs Cherry 142 yards and Ryan Zimmerman 123 yards. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz also saw his first action at\ Louisville, going 10 of 16 for 91 yards.
The Red (defense) team came out strong, they were able to put the first points on the board after a fourth down stop to take a 3-0 lead.
The first quarter featured a trio of offensive touchdowns, highlighted by Wydner's 77-yard pass to wide receiver Gavin Waddell, who would tally 118 yards total on the game. Running back Braxton Jennings tacked on a one-yard rushing touchdown to bring the offensive lead 14-3.
The Red squad stepped up and scored a three and out to bring its point total to six before the White team closed the first quarter with a 40-yard Lawayne McCoy receiving touchdown from Wydner – his second of the game.
The second quarter saw the defense respond with a trio of defensive stops. They recorded a three-and-out and two defensive stops, earning three and two points respectively for each stop.
 The defense was close to holding the White team scoreless in the second quarter, but both Carson Hilbert and Nick Keller were each able to connect on field goals. The Red team closed the gap at halftime after a pair of missed field goal attempts.
The third quarter saw the Red team continue to creep their way back into winning contention with two consecutive defensive stops that brought the score to 26-24.
The fourth quarter began with another Hilbert field goal to extend the lead to 29-24.
In the last minute of the game, the White team was able to record two scores. Cherry hurled a touchdown pass to another freshman wide receiver, DJ Williams, and Zimmerman closed the scoring with a touchdown pass to DeVaun Jones.
