No. 5/3 Louisville Complete Action at Toyota U.S. Open

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 5/3 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrap up competition at the Toyota U.S. Open on Saturday evening at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center.

Wednesday's action started strong with the 1500m freestyle, as both competing Cardinals posted a top two finish. For the men, Ilia Sibirtsev finished first with a pool record time of 15:05.51. On the women's side, Leticia Fassina Romao took second with a time of 16:25.92.
Thursday's competition led off with the 400m free, as Sibirtsev claimed sixth with a time of 3:48.98, while Romao secured eighth (4:15.77) and Daria Golovaty finished 12th (4:14.98). In the 200m IM, four Cards placed in the top 14, with Gregg Enoch coming out on top in 11th posting a 2:00.40. Tommy Bried took 12th (2:01.19), while Jackson Millard took 14th (2:01.90). Fernanda Celidonio led the women, earning 13th posting a 2:17.10. Caroline Larsen claimed seventh in the 50m breast with a time of 31.33, while Denis Petrashov secured 10th posting a 27.53. Rounding out day two of action, Andrej Barna earned second in the 50m free with a time of 21.62 for the men. Larsen represented the women, placing seventh posting a 25.00.
Friday's slate began with the 400 IM, as three Cardinal men placed in the top 11. Bried paved the way, finishing fifth with a time of 4:18.65. Enoch took eighth (4:21.77), while Millard took 11th (4:22.40). Petrashov claimed sixth in the 100 breast posting a 59.81. Julie Mishler secured 12th in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.91. Day three's action capped off with the 200m free, as Golovaty notched sixth (2:00.04) and Celidonio placed 11th (2:01.42).
The Cardinals came out hot on Saturday, with Romao (8:41.05) and Sibirtsev (7:51.85) earning second in the 800m. In the 50m fly, Larsen finished sixth with a time of 26.73. Millard placed 11th in the 200m back posting a 2:00.30. UofL placed three in the top 16 in the 200m breast, with Petrashov leading the way in fifth with a time of 2:13.17. Bried claimed eighth (2:15.61) and Eccleston notched 16th (2:18.86). Larsen secured 12th in the 100m free posting a 55.09 as the lone Cardinal competitor. The night ended with the 200m fly, as Bried captured ninth (1:59.59) and Enoch took 13th (2:01.15).
