No. 12/8 Louisville Hosts Xavier in Home Opener

Friday’s meet will mark the sixth straight year UofL has opened its dual meet season against Xavier
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 12/8-ranked University of Louisville men's and women's swim & dive teams return to Ralph Wright Natatorium to host Xavier for its home opener on Friday, Oct. 2 and 2 p.m. ET.
The Cards are coming off a stellar performance at the inaugural College Swimming League on Thursday, Sept. 24. UofL earned 451.5 points and won five individual and two relay events to secure second place. Indiana won the match with 575.5 points, while Michigan took third (420.5) and Ohio State finished fourth (250.5).

- Both Louisville squads head into the matchup ranked in the top 15 of the CSCAA Preseason Poll. The women sit at No. 8, while the men come in at No. 12.
- Friday's meet will mark the sixth straight year the Cards have opened their season dual meet season against the Musketeers.
- In 2025, both UofL teams dominated Xavier, with the men winning 196-61 and the women coming out on top 192-67.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Nikita Sheremet shined at the College Swim League on Sept. 24, winning two individual events while helping two relays secure victory. The sophomore dominated the 50-yard freestyle skins, winning all four races, going under 21 seconds in all of them. Sheremet added to his stellar night with a win in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking an electric 19.47. He also led off the winning 50-yard freestyle relay and anchored the 50-yard medley relay super skins that came out on top.
- Anastasia Gorbenko led the Cardinal women at the CSL, winning both the 100-yard IM and 200-yard breaststroke. In the 100-yard IM, Gorbenko swam the third fastest time ever recorded in the event with a 52.11. She also won the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:06.32, touching the wall almost four seconds faster than the competition.
- Rian Graham rounded out individual winners at the CSL for Louisville, winning the 100-yard butterfly with a 45.72. The junior also helped both the 50-yard freestyle relay and 50-yard medley relay super skins come out on top.
