Cards Return to Oak Ridge for SIRA Championship

Louisville is slated to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship on Saturday and Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville rowing returns to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the second time this season to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championship on Saturday and Sunday.

Location: Melton Hill Lake | Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Participating Teams: Barry, Clemson, Drake, Duquesne, High Point, Jacksonville, Kansas State, Louisville, Rollins, Stetson, Tampa, Toledo and Tulane

The Cardinals will field five boats over the weekend including three Varsity 8 boats and two Varsity 4 boats.
Louisville is one of 13 university sanctioned teams competing at Melton Hill Lake, in addition to several club teams. The university teams include Barry, Clemson, Drake, Duquesne, High Point, Jacksonville, Kansas State, Louisville, Rollins, Stetson, Tampa, Toledo and Tulane.
The Cards will begin racing with two boats in the Women's Second Varsity 8 (Club & Open) race at 9:03 a.m. on Saturday morning. Louisville will continue action with the Varsity 4 squad rowing at 9:59 followed by the Second Varsity 4 lineup at 10:13.
Louisville will wrap up prelims action at 11:02 with the Varsity 8 Open race.
Pending results from prelims on Saturday morning, Louisville will race in a variety of semifinals in the afternoon. Those women's semifinal races begin at 3:55 p.m. Finals in each race are scheduled for Sunday morning.
In Louisville's last time out on March 28-29, the Cards had a strong showing at the Sarasota 2k where UofL's 2V4 finished fifth overall and its other three boats earned first-place finishes in their respective finals.
