Cards Open Homestand at Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational

Roman Kuleshov and Miller Jones posted long jump marks that rank among the top 20 in the NCAA this season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams concluded the first of three days of competition at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational on Thursday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park.
The Cards took the top two spots in the men's long jump, as Roman Kuleshov and Miller Jones posted marks that rank among the top 20 in the NCAA thus far this season. Kuleshov notched a mark of 7.89m (25-10.75) (+3.1) on his first attempt of the day, while Jones leapt 7.83m (25-8.25) (+3.0) on his final attempt of the competition.
In the women's long jump, Sophia Day placed fourth overall with a final mark of 6.25m (20-6.25) (+2.1), and Anna Panenko set a new wind-legal personal record of 6.13m (20-1.5) to finish sixth.
Ashley Callahan continued her string of solid performances to begin her outdoor season in the women's pole vault, clearing 4.42m (14-6) to finish in a tie for second. Iliana Triantafyllou rounded out the top five in the event with a final bar of 4.12m (13-6.25).
Lucas Couron and Ty McPhail posted matching final clearances of 5.22m (17-1.5) in the men's pole vault, where Couron finished in a tie for third and McPhail placed seventh.
The Cards also got a pair of runner-up finishes in the hammer throw, where Matt Giuliano improved on his No. 2 mark in program history with a personal record of 63.70m (209-0) and Demaria King secured the ACC standard with a season-best toss of 54.53m (178-11).
Tomorrow's action will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET with the women's javelin throw, while the day's track events are set to get underway at 3:00 p.m. ET with the women's 800m. The full schedule of events can be found here.
