Cardinals Close Out Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational

Elsingi Kipruto and Emma McGill set meet records, while Alba Cuns Iglesias and Sharvari Parulekar moved into the top 20 in the NCAA in the women’s triple jump.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track & field teams wrapped up the third and final day of the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational on Saturday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park.
Elsingi Kipruto began the day with a meet and facility record in the men's 5000m, making his outdoor debut in the event with a winning time of 13:32.00 that ranks him second in program history. The time moves the freshman up to second in program history, while also ranking him 27th in the NCAA and fifth in the ACC among times entering the weekend.
Emma McGill also set a meet record in the women's 1500m, clocking a time of 4:21.35 to win the event by nearly five seconds.
The Cards took three of the top five spots in the women's triple jump, led by Alba Cuns Iglesias, who claimed the win with an all-conditions personal best of 13.36m (43-10) (+2.2) that moves into the top 10 nationally.
Sharvari Parulekar finished as the runner-up with a wind-legal personal best mark of 13.14m (43-1.5) that ranks fourth in program history and moves her to 20th in the NCAA among marks entering the weekend. Anna Panenko rounded out the top five with a leap of 12.85m (42-2) to continue her stellar sophomore season.
Lydia Stuart picked up her second event victory of the outdoor season in the women's open pole vault, clearing a personal-best mark of 4.12m (13-6.25) that moves her into the top 10 in the Louisville record books.
After finishing second overall in the women's shot put on Friday, Kaia Tupu-South finished as the runner-up in the women's discus throw with a mark of 54.25m (178-0) that came on her first throw of the competition.
The Cards rounded out the day with a pair of third-place finishes on the track, where Breanna Braham recorded a time of 54.51 in the women's 400m and Spenser Wolf raced to a time of 9:09.36 in the men's 3000m steeplechase.
The Cardinals will close out their regular season next weekend, as the team splits between the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif. on May 1 and the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Ky. on May 1-2.
