Cards Drop ACC Quarterfinal Match to Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Less than 24 hours after a dramatic rally to reach match play for the first time, the University of Louisville men's golf team returned to Shark's Tooth Golf Course on Sunday morning, but the Cardinals dropped their match to No. 2 seed Virginia 3-0 in the ACC Men's Golf Championship quarterfinals.
Virginia advanced to the ACC Championship match play semifinals but a little more than halfway through its afternoon semifinal match against North Carolina, play was suspended due to darkness. The match will resume on Monday (April 27) at 8:30 a.m. ET.
The Cardinals lost three critical matches in the morning in their first-ever trip to the ACC Match Play Quarterfinals. The Cavaliers registered wins from Paul Chang, Ben James. and Michael Lee to setup the rematch of the 2025 ACC Championships Match Play Final against North Carolina. Chang and James cruised with 6&4 and 4&2 wins in their matches against Louisville, respectively. Lee clinched the match with a victory on the 19th hole against Warren Thomis. Lee birdied the first playoff hole, the par 4, 10th to send UVA to the semifinals.
Andrew Tan was 2 Up in his match with Bryan Lee with two holes to play when the match was deemed a final. Easton Johnson was tied with Josh Duangmanee heading to the 18th hole.
The Cardinals will await their postseason fate when NCAA Regional announcements are made on May 6 at 2 p.m.
