Young Named ACC Goalkeeper of the Year - University of Louisville Athletic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Louisville's Emily Young has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year. She also joins Lauren Masters and Annabel Sep on the All-ACC first team in a vote by the league's head coaches as announced by the conference office today.

Young becomes the first player in program history to earn ACC Goalkeeper of the Year recognition. The senior from Houston posted a 1.42 goals against average and has collected 85 saves with a league-best .766 save percentage. The team co-captain is also tied for the conference lead with six shutouts.

In the first weekend of 2026 campaign, she posted eight saves while leading the Cardinals' defense to a shootout win over then-No. 10 Miami (Ohio) and followed with a career-best 14-save performance in a 2-1 win against Indiana. She went on to become the first Louisville player since 2022 to earn National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Defensive Player of the Week honors and was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.

Sep earns her second straight All-ACC nod after receiving second-team all-ACC and NFHCA All-West Region honors in 2025. The senior back from Amsterdam, The Netherlands has keyed the Cardinals' defense to seven shutouts on the season. An integral part of the penalty corner attack unit, Sep also leads the team with six goals and has chipped in a pair of assists for 14 points.

Masters takes home her first all-ACC honor after being named to the NFHCA All-West Region second team in 2025. The senior midfielder has consistently provided a spark for the Cardinals' attack and in the midfield, tallying two goals and two assists this season. She has also represented the United State as a member of USA Field Hockey's Under-21 team for the past three years, recently helping them to a first-place finish at the 2026 4-Nations Tournament.

Louisville (10-8, 4-4 ACC) has earned the No. 5 seed in the ACC Championship and will face fourth-seeded Syracuse in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Karen Shelton Stadium.
