Ahouda defeated No. 118 in straight sets on the top court in the loss
CARY, N.C. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team took a tough 4-1 loss in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Wednesday morning at Cary Tennis Park.Â
In doubles competition, Florida State's (13-14, 4-10 ACC) duo of Gabor Hornung and Luis Felipe Miguel claimed a 6-2 victory on court two. Shortly after, No. 88 duo of Justin Lyons and Azariah Rusher clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court three. Hamza El Amine and Walid Ahouda were leading the No. 38 duo at the time the match was abandoned.Â
Louisville's (17-13, 5-9 ACC) Ahouda took a swift win on the top court in singles play, defeating No. 118 Felipe Miguel in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 for Louisville's lone victory of the match.Â
Florida State took command of the match, claiming courts five, four then two to clinch the 4-1 victory.Â
Freshman Jerald Carroll and senior Andre' Steinbach were both competing in close third sets when their matches were called.Â
