
Women's Tennis Completes Play at Miami Invitational

The University of Louisville women's tennis team had a strong showing in singles on as they concluded Miami Invitational action at the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday.
The Cards had victories against players from Eastern Kentucky from Ariana Rodriguez, who downed Dominika Hadnakova 6-1, 6-0 and Manuela Velasquez handled Marcela Jimenez 6-4, 6-5. Chloe Willets rolled over Melissa Gerritsemn 6-1, 6-0 but Cassie Pough lost a nailbiter 4-6, 7-6 (10-7) to Kristina Labeja.
"We had a solid day in singles," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "We split our matches but Cassie was very close to winning. She lost a match tiebreaker in the third set. Overall it was a good weekend for the players and we competed very well in our first outing."
