Louisville Set to Host Ball State and Eastern Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will host its second doubleheader of the season as the Cardinals welcome Ball State and Eastern Kentucky to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Louisville will play Ball State at 12 p.m. ET and will face Eastern Kentucky at 5 p.m. Admission is free for both matches.

The Cardinals (2-0) are coming off a clean opening weekend at home defeating Northern Illinois 4-3 and Bellarmine 4-1. Transfer Maria Campos led the team with three wins, picking up one doubles win Andrea Di Palma against NIU and two singles wins. Campos clinched the match against NIU. Rhea Verma and Sasha Gorchanyuk won both of their doubles matches playing in the No. 2 spot.

Ball State (1-1) split the weekend with a 7-0 sweep against IUPUI and falling 4-3 against Purdue. Emma Peeler and Mariya Polishchuk won 6-0 at the three spot against IUPUI on Saturday. Jessica Braun earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep to clinch the match. Ball State fought back against Purdue with three three-set thrilling victories at the No. 2, No. 5, and No. 6 spot.

Eastern Kentucky (1-2) fell to Western Kentucky 7-0 in their lone match this weekend. Daniela Hernandez and Emmeline Polevoi extended their singles matches to three sets. Polevoi lost 10-8 in the third. On Jan. 19, EKU earned their first win since 2018 against Campbellsville, winning 4-3 after falling to Northern Kentucky in a close match, 4-3. Sasha Parkhomenko won both of her singles matches against Campbellsville and NKU at the No. 4 spot.
