Ray "Bushhog" McKinney (1928-31)

Raymond “Bushog” McKinney was an outstanding fullback for the UofL football team. He played for Coach Tom King for three seasons and for Coach Jack McGrath for one year. McKinney joined UofL from Somerset High School where he earned all-state status in football and basketball for four years. He acquired the nickname of “Bushog” in the eighth grade because of his aggressive hitting style and it stuck with him through college. McKinney was looked on as an outstanding player on mediocre teams while with the Cardinals.
